Dr. Esra Çavuşoğlu, PhD, is a psychotherapist, a clinical advisor, an entrepreneur, and a certified addiction therapist. Proudly sober for 19 years, she describes herself as a science nerd, an experimenter, and a relentless seeker of optimal living through biohacking, longevity, and sobriety.
She is a constant reinventor—integrating wellness practices and guiding others to do the same.
Through her podcast, Sober Head, Dr. Çavuşoğlu hosts thought-provoking conversations with world-renowned scientists, physicians, and innovators. Topics span addiction, longevity, functional medicine, healthy living, biohacking, aesthetic medicine, and emerging medical technologies—creating social awareness and impact.
As a speaker and consultant, she advises individuals and organizations on addiction, longevity, and healthy performance, helping them enhance quality of life and overall well-being.
With her clinical psychology expertise focused on addiction treatment, Dr. Çavuşoğlu supports individuals throughout their recovery journeys, offering professional care and evidence-based guidance.
Trained both in the United States and internationally, Dr. Çavuşoğlu holds a PhD in psychology and is a certified addiction therapist in the State of New York. She formerly served on the Clinical Advisory Board of Yale University School of Medicine and worked as an Advisor for International Development for the Yale Program on Supervision.
Dr. Çavuşoğlu has participated in numerous international medical conferences. Notably, she served as a moderator for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna (2016), and as a panelist at the Asia Pacific Behavioral and Addiction Medicine (APBAM) Conference in Singapore (2013). She continues to treat patients in clinical practice.
In Turkey, as Senior Supervisor of the Oya Bahadır Yüksel Rehabilitation Center in Gaziantep, she designed and implemented the Turkey Model of Rehabilitation, which later became the national standard. Prior to this, she served two years as Vice President of Operations at the Gaziantep Center, collaborating closely with government officials and health consultants.
Her contributions to addiction treatment in Turkey are significant—her articles have received Presidential Recognition. She has delivered expert presentations on adolescent addiction in the United States, Turkey, and Singapore.
To address Turkey’s increasing addiction challenges, Dr. Çavuşoğlu founded the Contemporary Addiction Studies Association (ÇABAÇAD) with the mission of spreading scientific addiction knowledge, developing training curricula, and supporting institutions in establishing residential and outpatient treatment programs.
Following the devastating earthquakes on February 6, Dr. Çavuşoğlu led ÇABAÇAD’s initiatives to provide addiction-related training for civil society organizations operating in the affected regions.
