Oliver Schütte
Co-Founder, A-01
Oliver Schütte graduated as an architect in Aachen, Germany and brings more than 25 years of experience in architecture and urban planning. His early career included formative work with Eisenman Architects and sculptor Richard Serra in New York (1997–98), followed by six years at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam. During this period, he contributed to internationally recognized projects such as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Dutch Embassy in Berlin, the Bordeaux House, the headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV), and the Beijing preservation plan.
In 2005, Oliver co-founded A-01, an interdisciplinary network organization focused on sustainable and regenerative development. His work with A-01 is grounded in the organization’s participatory, cross-professional approach, which builds custom-fit teams for co-creative assignments across scales. He plays a key role in shaping A-01’s vision of the 4E of integral sustainability—Economy, Equality, Environment, and Engineering—and advancing projects that support fair economic growth, social equity, responsible resource use, and high-quality spatial design. Within A-01, Oliver specializes in bioclimatic architecture and inclusive urban design.
